Sadly, senior cats spend the longest time in shelters, waiting to be adopted. While there, these cats require special care that younger cats don't need... care that can put a strain on the shelters. 

Shelters, rescues and foster parents must focus their resources on providing shelter, food and medical care, but senior cats often need, special items which can be costly.  By sending a support package we can help senior cats find comfort in their temporary surroundings; until they find their forever homes.

Lucy

Change is hard for senior cats, and Lucy was no exception. She was struggling with her unfamiliar surroundings while also battling severe stomatitis. She was given the proper medical care and is recovering. She now devours the donated soft food and treats and is starting to regain weight. She and her caretakers send their thanks for your help. 

 

 

Marcelline

This sweet feline greeted everyone at the shelter with soft chirps and gentle head bumps, despite being ill. She arrived with a painful oral mass and indications of kidney disease. 

Both conditions are treatable or manageable but will scare off adopters. The shelter is making sure she gets the care she needs and is spoiling her with tasty food and treats, thanks to your donations.

The beloved senior has been a loyal companion to his owner for the past ten years. When she fell on hard times, she was unable to provide the preventative care he needed. They arrived at a clinic at their local shelter, which was able to provide parasite medication and goods, thanks to your generosity. Meet Uncle Chip

This senior feline was rescued from the streets during a winter storm. It is a miracle he survived so long on his own. 

He arrived partially blind suffering from arthritis and ear infections. He is now on a daily medication to help with his arthritis and found something he loves to eat- treats.

Meet Panda

Panda is one of 8 animals that were surrendered to Friends of Metro Animal Shelters from a breeder. They are unsure of his age but believe him to be at least 12 yrs old. When they got him, he was heavily matted. This breed requires lots of care for their coats. He was also uncomfortable and uneasy with new surroundings. The shelter discovered that he loves being petted and brushed. Probably not something he had ever experienced in his life. He also adores having warm sunny spots to nap and relax!
