While the average stay for a cat is two months and one month for a dog, animals are spending more time in shelters waiting to be adopted - especially large dogs and senior animals.

This not only puts a strain on the shelter and their limited funds but also on the animals.

Kittens and puppies spend less time in a shelter but need several rounds of vaccinations and lots of food and care to grow big and strong. Senior cats and dogs spend many months waiting for a home and need nutritious food and ongoing care. Every dollar helps!
