Update: Perdita is finally pain free after having surgery to remove her inflamed and infected eyes. She is adjusting well and recovering in her new forever home. The rescue shared that she was adopted a week after her surgery.

Perdita was surrendered to the shelter with no explanation, but her condition revealed a painful truth. She was completely blind in both eyes and x-rays revealed bullet fragments in her head, likely the result of a hunting accident.

One of Perdita’s eyes is at high risk of infection while the other has glaucoma, causing her constant discomfort. Doctors have recommended surgery to remove both eyes and relieve her pain. The procedure will require careful post-operative care through the use of antibiotics, pain medication, and wound monitoring.
